Clinics

Coach Jeannie offers technique clinics for age group, high school, college and adult swimmers. She offers technique clinics in all strokes (freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke), as well as starts and turns for age group and high school competitive swimmers, and Total Immersion Effortless Endurance clinics for adults. She uses poolside video in all clinics. Clinics are held at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA, and are offered at various times of the year. Any technique clinic can also be brought to your team!

Technique Clinics for Competitive Swimmers:

Learn efficiency, and how to practice with purpose... and swim faster! Swimming speed starts with efficiency. The world’s fastest swimmers have the most efficient strokes, meaning they use technique that reduces drag and minimizes energy waste. They travel through the water efficiently rather than just moving lots of water. In addition, practice creates muscle memory. Practicing with purpose and practicing correctly will create the right muscle memory. If it’s time for you to swim with more efficiency and purpose, this clinic is for you. We’ll focus on various drills and critical technique that will help you to improve your stroke. Bring your brain and learn to swim smart! I always use poolside video and share video post-clinic.

Tuition: Clinics can be 2-3 hours long, and may cover a single stroke or more than one stroke; tuition varies accordingly.

Quick Technique Clinics for Competitive Swimmers:

These clinics focus on the key skills and the most important elements for each stroke, start or turn to gain efficiency and speed. I like to think of these as the “biggest bang for the buck” for each stroke, turn or start. We accomplish this through video, on deck and in water rehearsals, focal point swims, and a few of my very favorite and most helpful drills. I do not teach stroke fundamentals here; rather, we tune them up and work on  feeling something new. For this clinic, it is assumed all participants are competitive swimmers who are generally proficient in the strokes. I always use poolside video and share video post-clinic.

Tuition: Clinics can be 2-3 hours long, and may cover a single stroke or more than one stroke; tuition varies accordingly.

Total Immersion Freestyle Clinics for Adults:

Total Immersion 1.0: Effortless Endurance Freestyle
Would you like to swim a mile or more, enjoying every stroke, and feeling refreshed and energized when you finished? Would you like to do your best (or first!) triathlon or open water swim? Our Effortless Endurance workshop help you prepare for a triathlon, improve your fitness, and develop a swimming technique for a lifetime of health. In just a single 1-day workshop, we’ll teach you (1) balance and stability; (2) how to be sleek and slippery in the water; (3) how to swim with your whole body; and (4) how to channel energy forward. This workshop is recommended for those who can swim 50 yards or more of freestyle or have studied TI skills previously online or via DVD. All workshops include your coach in the water with you and before and after video analysis.

Tuition: $250/person for 7- hour clinic. Minimum of 3 participants; maximum of 5. $350/person for semi-private clinic.

Total Immersion 2.0: Mastering Freestyle
If you’ve reached the “OK Plateau” – your swimming is good enough but may not be  improving, or you’re in need of reinvigoration, or you sense nagging inefficiencies in stroke, kick or breathing — this workshop will put you on the path from efficient to master in freestyle. We’ll teach you higher-level skills, particularly how to (1) catch-and-stroke more effectively; (2), breathe seamlessly; and (3) get more out of your kick while working less.  This workshop is both a refresher for prior TI 1.0 workshop attendees, and a continuation of the TI 1.0 workshop. This workshop requires prior knowledge of TI freestyle through a workshop or self-coaching.

Tuition: $125/person for 3.5-hour clinic. Minimum of 5 participants.

Total Immersion 3.0: Sustainable Speed for Distance Swimming
The traditional way to swim faster is to swim harder. If you’ve tried this and found it ineffective or unsatisfying, we have a better way. If you enjoy racing in Triathlons, Master’s or Open Water swimming, or seek to improve your speed as a challenge in mastering higher level skills, we’ll teach you to replace guesswork — and exhausting hard work — with a mathematically precise way to swim faster… neural training to optimize Stroke Length and Stroke Rate. You’ll also learn to replace boring repeats and canned workouts with engaging and 100 percent personalized practice. This workshop requires prior knowledge of TI freestyle through a workshop or self-coaching, and includes a Finis Tempo Trainer.

Tuition: $165/person for 3.5-hour clinic. Minimum of 5 participants.
